COLLAB
The COLLAB of 2008 is long time partner in crime Doze Green. Doze has been part of BUILDESTROY since my former incarnation doing print design / illustration / identity with him as “Next FX”. Started in 1996, together we created art for many skateboard companies, clothing lines, record labels and magazines. Over 12 years later we’re making the first short film of Doze’s art, animated and explored in many mediums from 3D, to live-action, to stop-motion. A visual mash up as layered as his work is in both meaning and visuals.
This project is called “Ghetto Defender” and features Doze’s paintings from his 2007 show “The Left Hand Path.” The film takes us into the inner world of a janitor who finds his true self through a journey into his alter ego: the Ghetto Defender. The surrealistic dreamstate world created by Doze’s paintings provides him a glimpse of his ancestors, his past, the present, , and one possible future. Look for an online release in 2009 and in festivals in 2010.
